Feng Shui (also known as Kanyu), as an ancient discipline of Eastern civilization, is a scientific method under Eastern philosophy that guides humans to live in harmony with the natural environment.

Kanyu can be divided into two aspects: Heaven and Earth. Heaven refers to the movements and patterns of the sun, moon, stars, and planets, which radiate powerful magnetic energy affecting all things and living beings on Earth. Earth refers to the mountains, rivers, terrain, and features on the planet, which carry the energy of the cosmos and also possess magnetic and energetic properties.

Since ancient times, Chinese ancestors did not have scientific instruments to measure these magnetic fields or energies, so they used the visible elements of Water, Wood, Fire, Metal, and Earth as abstract representations, differentiating their properties with Yin and Yang—a system that is still used today.
